LDS Conference in the Mission Field

Crowds gather on Temple Square in Salt Lake City while we gather at the giant screen.

This was our view at the 179th Annual Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What a thrill it was to be with many dear friends from the ward and wonderful missionaries as we were spiritually fed by the inspired talks of the general authorities. We could have listened for many more hours!

Elder Evans arrived in the mission a week ago and is working with Elder Law in the Spanish-speaking Brentwood ward which meets in the Bay Shore building. They make a great team and will be found shooting baskets on P-day:-)

A few of us ward members provided lunch on both days of the Conference to feed those who attended the satellite broadcast at the church. I made chicken enchiladas, Texas sheet cake, vegetable beef and lentil stew, garlic bread, and brought a big bowl of fruit. Many hands pitched in to help.
Sisters Frodsham and Burton were hoping some of those investigators and less active who they have been teaching would come to the church to attend conference. They were blessed to have a few people in attendance.

Again...we were spiritually and physically fed.

You lucky people you! Here in the member districts of the High Central Andes of Peru, we have no access to Conference, except through high-speed Internet. Some churches here have low-speed Internet, which doesn't work well. So the districts hold their regular fast Sunday meetings.

We were in the remote town of Huancavelica over the weekend, so we will watch Conference this week through thru lds.org.

Cute missionaries...especially the "mature" couple in the middle picture ;) Conference was wonderful! Seeing you missionaries reminded me when I was on my mission: I remember having to catch a train at 4:00 in the morning for 3 hours, a bus for another hour and then walking 2 miles to watch it at one of the only stake centers in Italy....and we were so grateful. We are so blessed!

wow! I can't believe how fast time has gone and you will be on your way home soon. I've loved your blog and am an avid reader but then I am an avid fan of the DePaula's! We are doing great and seem to stay ever so busy with family and Relief Society still. Love you and thinking of you! Eileen
